ADOPTION INFORMATION |
| Adoption |
Prospective adopters are extensively screened to ensure our retrievers are placed in the best possible permanent home. Each prospective family must fill out an application to start the adoption process. Once the application is received and entered into our system, an AZRR volunteer will call you to conduct a telephone interview. Upon completion of the telephone interview you will again be contacted to schedule time for an AZRR volunteer to complete an in-home evaluation. All three phases of the adoption procedure will then be
evaluated and the family will be notified of our decision.
We understand that this is a very involved and extensive process,
but we are committed to making the best possible placements for our retrievers. At the time of the adoption, Adopters must sign a contract
agreeing to return the adopted retriever to AZRR in the event the family
is no longer able to care for the rescued retriever. Adoption Fees: Adoption fees are charged to help defray the medical expenses of the rescued retrievers. Adoption fees range from $225 to $350 per dog and are based on age. Adoption Fees: Puppies to the age of one year

Retrievers will receive a full physical, completed by an AZRR approved veterinarian, brought current on vaccinations (if needed), tested for Heartworms, spayed or neutered and microchipped. Medical conditions are treated and the retriever will remain on medical hold until deemed ready to adopt. AZRR will occasionally have a special needs retriever than may require ongoing medical treatment after adoption. Those cases are handled on an individual basis. Arizona Retriever Rescue |
